HLPC to hold talks with dissenting parties
The High-level Political Committee has decided to hold talks with parties including the CPN-Maoist, which have shown reservations towards the proposed Constituent Assembly (CA) elections under the current Khil Raj Regmi led government.
A meeting of the cross-party panel convened under the chairmanship of Committee coordinaor and CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal, decided to hold talks with the dissenting parties to taken them into confideance for participating in the CA election in the existing situation, RSS quoted Raghuji Panta, a HLPC member, as saying after the meeting.
Panta said the meeting also urged the 42 disgruntled parties to participate in the CA election by putting aside all the differences as there was no alternative to go for CA election for the promulgation of a new constitution.
The committee welcomed the Cabinet decision to hold CA election on November 19 and called on all political parties to strive for the election.
This was the last meeting of the committee under UML Chairman Khanal as the leadership of the committee will be changed every month.Chairman of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF)-Democratic, Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar will be the coordinator of the Committee from tomorrow.
