Family loses house, land to treat daughter

SYANGJA, JUN 14 - Family of Bivakumari BK of Chimnebas VDC-8 in the district has been displaced after she failed to pay debt borrowed for the treatment of her 10-year-old daughter.

Bivakumari said their land and house were captured by the lender two months ago after she failed to pay the debt. Currently, she along with her five children is taking shelter in her parent's house at Kyampi VDC-9 while her husband Rin Bahadur works in India.

Her daughter has been suffering problems in her stomach as well as the urinary system ever since local children accidentally inserted wooden chips in her uterus and anus when she was just three years old.

Bivakumari said she could not treat her daughter though she took her to various hospitals.

She said Rs 700,000 was spent in her dauthter's treatment .

"We cannot afford further medical expenses for her treatment as the husband's income hardly feeds us," Bivakumari said while she was begging for money at the district headquarters to treat her daughter.
