Strike cripples life across country
KATHMANDU, JUN 16 -
Normal life has come to a standstill across the country since early Sunday morning due to the Nepal banda called by 42 political parties including Mohan Baidhya-led CPN-Maoist and Ashok Rai-led Sanghiya Samajwadi Party-Nepal.
The parties have called the strike against the government's announcement of Constituent Assembly polls date. The government on Thursday announced November 19 as the date for holding fresh Constituent Assembly elections.
Public vehicles remained off the road and education institutes, market places remained shut due to the strike . Cadres of the agitating parties have converged at major throughfares in the Capital to enforce the banda.
The parties have also called for scrapping the 11-point and 25-point agreement signed between the political parties.
