Early election indispensable to end transition: Nepal
Senior CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has stressed on the need for ending the current transition period to bail the country out of the current political deadlock.
Speaking at function to lay the foundation stone of Madan Pokhara Polytechnique Institute at Amalyahan in Madan Pokhara here in the district on Thursday, Nepal said that differing political views should be incorporated to make progress.
Nepal called on everyone to lend support for a successful conduction of the Constituent Assembly elections. He opined that the CA elections should not be delayed in order to end the current transition He urged the political leaders to work collectively for ensuring an early election.
The former prime minister suggested that the parties should work together to settle the contentious issues of federalism and forms of governance to be adopted in the new constitution. He underscored that the new constitution should be drafted within six months to one year period.
He further added that the constitution drafting should be completed within one year. He added that the constitution drafting should be completed through referendum in case of failure to draft the new constitution in one-year time.
