UN Resident Coordinator calls on Dahal
KATHMANDU, DEC 10 - The United Nations Resident Coordinator for Nepal, Jamie McGoldrick, called on chairman of the UCPN (Maoist) , Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Tuesday.
During the meeting held at Dahal's residence in Lazimpat, they discussed on contemporary political issues.
On the occasion, Chairman Dahal said that his party has urged the government and bodies concerned to carry out investigation into the rigging that took place during the the election to the Constituent Assembly (CA) and expressed the view that his party would not deviate from peace and constitution, said the UCPN (Maoist) leader, Barshaman Pun, who was present in the meeting.
Stating that his party was in favour of peace and constitution, Dahal said that issues raised about the election should be rightfully addressed.
The UCPN (Maoist) Chairman said that his party was always ready to make the people empowered and expressed the view that the party would not make any unnecessary compromise for that.
Similarly, UN Resident Coordinator McGoldrick enquired about election results and further strategy of the UCPN (Maoist) .
He expressed the belief that a new constitution would be promulgated as soon as possible and added that the UN was ready to provide necessary support to Nepal.
