Oli stresses on democratic statue, national unity


KATHMANDU, DEC 13 - Leader of the CPN-UML , KP Sharma Oli, has said that the CPN-UML and the Nepali Congress ( NC ) should move ahead by taking all parties together after determining the right basis of coordination on the issues of constitution and government, among others.

Oli said that through the recently-held Constituent Assembly election, the Nepali people have given responsibility to the CPN-UML and NC to play the leadership role, so it was the responsibility both the parties for moving ahead on the basis of consensus and coordination.

At a programme on the role of journalists in constitution writing and security organised by Kathmandu chapter of the Federation of Nepali Journalists ( FNJ ) here today, he said that a new constitution incorporating people's rights, strengthening social harmony and national unity would be promulgated as per the democratic norms and the country taken towards economic prosperity.

Oli said that they would not allow the country to disintegrate and added that no attempts would be carried out to split the country in the name of identity.

Chairman of the Editors' Society, Devendra Gautam, former President of FNJ , Kathmandu, Hari Lamsal, Chief Executive Officer of the Mega Bank, Anil Shah, among others pointed out the need of promulgating a democratic constitution at the programme chaired by Govinda Chaulagain, the Kathmandu President of FNJ .

On the occasion, FNJ Kathmandu, Press Chautari, Lalitpur chapter and journalists Bidur Gautam and Ramhari Silwal each provided financial support of Rs. 5,000 to Renuka Bhattarai, wife of journalist BK Palpali, for Palpali's treatment.
