Cricketers set to leave for Sri Lanka tour


KATHMANDU, DEC 17 -
The Nepali cricket team is set to embark on a 10-day tour of Sri Lanka on Tuesday as part of their preparation for the ICC World Cup Qualifiers.

Nepal will play four practice matches with the top flight clubs in Sri Lanka . “We will have the opportunity to practice against the top Sri Lanka n clubs which boost up to seven players contracted with the Sri Lanka n Cricket Board,” informed Nepal coach Pubudu Dassanayake.

Nepal will stay in Sri Lanka until December 27 and will board to New Zealand from there. They will play another four warm-up matches with the local teams prior to the event. The Qualifier is set to kick off on January 13. Nepal are in Group A along with Scotland, Canada, the UAE and Hong Kong. Dassanayake rates Scotland as a tough team. “The UAE and Hong Kong are teams we are familiar with but Scotland are tough,” he added.

In a separate programme, captain Paras Khadka attended a Meet and Greet Paras organised by HH Bajaj, the authorised distributor of Bajaj motorbikes in Nepal. Khadka shared his experience at the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers, his views on the future of cricket in Nepal and his experience as brand Ambassador of Bajaj.
