KATHMANDU, DEC 13 -
Bimal Gharti Magar, the national football team’s 15-year-old forward, said on Thursday that he learnt quite a few things during his trial at the Netherlands top flight Twente FC.
Gharti Magar, who returned home on Thursday after spending 12 days at the Dutch club said: “My confidence have grown immensely after the trial at a club sophisticated facilities and standard training facilities at their disposal.”
The forward said he played two practice matches but did well only in the second. “I fared well in the second match,” added Gharti Magar who scored four goals alone in that game.
Dutch coach Rene Koster, who arranged the trial for Gharti Magar and the Bangla-deshi U-19 skipper Hemanto, said: “His improvement during the U-17 and U-19 matches was visible. Bimal has been able to draw attention from the (Twente) U-17 coach, who has already submitted his report of the trial. His fate with will be decided soon.”
Bangladesh football assistant coach Koster, however, said Gharti Magar’s chances of earning professional contract or breaking into the academy team was very little. He pointed out the visa complications for non-Europeans would be the major hindering factor for the Nepali striker.
