NC seeks five more days for submission of PR candidates' list

KATHMANDU, DEC 09 - The Nepali Congress (NC) has urged the Election Commission to extend time for the submission of Proportional Representation (PR) candidates by five more days.
The EC had given time until tomorrow to the political parties to submit the names of candidates under the PR category.
Some of the political parties including the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal, among others, have already submitted the names of candidates to EC.
Stating that talks and discussions were underway for submitting the final names of the PR candidates , NC urged the EC for extending time.
A delegation comprising Vice-President Ram Chandra Poudel, senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula and publicity department Chief, Minendra Rijal, among other leaders of the NC met Chief Election Commissioner, Neel Kantha Uprety, Commissioners Dolakha Bahadur Gurung, Rambhakta PV Thakur and Ila Sharma at the EC office and made such request.
Talking to media persons, CEC Uprety expressed belief that all the victorious parties would submit the name list of their PR candidates at EC till Tuesday.
Uprety further added that a meeting of EC would make rightful decision on the letter submitted by NC demanding extension of time.
