Senior citizens deprived of allowences in Kanchanpur

KANCHANPUR, DEC 08 - Senior citizens of Papaladi VDC in Kanchanpur have been deprived of access to social security allowance for the past three months.

They have not received allowance due to sheer negligence on the part of respective VDC secretary, said locals. Though the District Development Committee had released necessary amount to the VDC on August, the senior citizens here are not getting their entitlement due to absence of VDC secretary for the past five months.

Chandra Devi, a single woman of Pipaladi-4, is compelled to return bare handed from the VDC time and again as she has not got allowance since past three months.

The service recipients are facing difficulties after VDC secretary was assigned to the DDC office with growing public criticism on his performance and delay in assigning new VDC secretary.

Social security allowances including senior citizen allowance, single woman allowance and disabled allowances have not been distributed for the past three months, said service recipients.

Presently, the VDC secretary of adjoining Jhalari VDC has been assigned to distribute the allowance and that the distribution will be made within a couple of days, said DDC Official Mahesh Bam.

As many as 982 people are receiving social security allowance s from the VDC office, it is learnt.
