UML asks its PR candidates to get back to 'work'
KATHMANDU, D EC 06 - CPN-UML has asked its Proportional Representation (PR) candidates to stop pressurising party senior leaders for lobbying in their favour and return back to their respective party responsibilities.
A meeting of the UML Standing Committee in the Capital made the decision to the effect following intense pressure from the ones in the UML PR list to have their name in the final list.
"The party will select the candidates in a scrupulous manner based on certain criteria and will then recommend to the Election Commission," read the statement issued by party Secretary Bishnu Poudel after the meeting. "Hence, the party has directed its candidates in the PR list to immediately get back to their working field and works defined by the party," reads the statement further.
The meeting today also decided to call Central Committee (CC) meeting for next Monday.
The party has also informed that the scheduled CC meeting will finalise the criteria that would be adopted by the party while choosing PR candidates .
UML has won 84 seats in the PR category in the second CA election held on November 19. EC has asked the parties to send in their list of PR candidates by December 10.
