India for timely constitution, CA polls: Ravi Shankar
KATHMANDU, AUG 25 - Deputy Chief of India's Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) at Rajya Sabha and Foreign Department Chief, Ravi Shankar Prasad , has said that India wishes to see an early drafting of new constitution through successful conduction of Constituent Assembly (CA) elections in Nepal.
Speaking at a programme organised in the Capital on Sunday, the India leader, who is currently on a three-day visit to Nepal, said the main concern of Nepali political parties is to bring the disgruntled parties onboard the election process and made it clear that his country only wishes for successful conduction of the CA election s in slated time.
"We wish that Nepal make progress as a federal, democratic and republic nation. But it is for the Nepali people and parties to decide the type of constitution , governing system and government," said the visiting BJP leader.
Prasad, however, opined that, according to his experience, democracy, civil rights, independent judiciary, and democratic system would be best system.
The India leader said India is ready to extend necessary support for the upcoming CA election s.
He made it clear that the Indian government, political parties and nationals completely respect the national unity, integrity and sovereignty of Nepal. He underlined the need for cooperation between Nepal and India for the economic development and also for the development of education and health sector.
Leader Prasad noted that the relations between Nepal and India are based on cultural unity rather than political. He stressed on the need to strengthen the bilateral ties in the days ahead.
