Funeral as missing taken dead

Unable to find the whereabouts of their kin for more than two months, three families of nine people missing in the Uttarakhand floods have performed their final rites following the Hindu tradition. On June 2, nine persons from Gaindakot headed for Kedarnath, India.
The funeral rites for the nine were performed on the same day. Seven people from the village that reached India in search of the missing had returned without concrete information about the condition of the missing. “We enquired with travel agents and looked everywhere but we could not find them,” said Shalikram Acharya. Purna Chalise, a local, said the families had performed funeral as the hopes for the return of the missing were fading.
