Police deny case, says Dalit victim
DAILEKH, AUG 25 -
The district police, citing the absence of the Deputy Superintendent of Police, has allegedly refused to file a case related to caste discrimination and untouchability.
Arjun BK of Jambukandh VDC-2 claimed that he, along with his brother Manoj, was abused verbally and physically by Jagat Bahadur Shahi.
According to Manoj, the Shahi brothers had assaulted them for their absence during paddy plantation. Although they lodged a complaint soon after the incident on July 20, the police and locals had forced them to reconcile at the Area Police Office. Acting police chief, Inspector Tej Bahadur Malla claimed the case was not registered due to the absence of DSP Pajwal Maharjan, who is currently out of the district. The victims have alleged the Dullu police of siding with the perpetrators. The victims have included a medical report from a local practitioner as an evidence of the assault.
