Chairman Regmi pays tribute to deceased Joint Attorney General

KATHMANDU, JUL 21 - Chairman of the Interim Election Council Khil Raj Regmi on Sunday paid tribute to Surya Prasad Pokhrel, Joint Attorney General of Nepal, who died in a car accident on Saturday afternoon.

Regmi paid tribute to Pokhrel reaching the Office of the Attorney General, where his body was kept, and signed in the condolence book.

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Hari Prasad Neupane, as well as other personalities including justices at the Supreme Court, Attorney General Drona Raj Regmi, Chairman of the Administrative Court Kashiraj Dahal, Chairman of the Nepal Bar Association Hari Krishna Karki, officials at the Office of the Attorney General, besides deceased Pokhrel's relatives paid tribute to late Pokhrel.

His funeral rites were performed at Pashupatinath Aryaghat today.

Pokhrel died in the car accident at Dhakauli in Banke district on Saturday afternoon while he was returning to Kathmandu from Nepalgunj. His vehicle had overturned due to brake failure, leaving Pokhrel dead on the spot.

Pokhrel was born in 2020 BS in Dhapasi, Kathmandu. He joined the civil service as government prosecutor (Gazetted Third Class) in 2047 BS and became Assistant Attorney General in 2053 BS.

He was promoted to Joint Attorney General in 2065 BS. RSS
