Indian PM Singh stresses on timely CA election
KATHMANDU, JUL 26 - Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said that the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections in Nepal, scheduled for November 19, should be held within the stipulated time. Indian Prime Minister Singh said so during his meeting with former Prime Minister and senior CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal , who is on a five-day visit to India , on Friday.
Singh even urged leader Nepal to ask for any further support from India to help make the CA election in Nepal a success.
"India wants to see democracy strengthened in Nepal," said Singh, adding," We are ready to lend any support needed for the CA election s as a good neighbour."
In return, leader Nepal assured Singh that the elections in Nepal will be held within the stipulated time by forging consensus among all the political parties.
Earlier today, leader Nepal also held a luncheon meeting with Indian Minister for External Affairs Salman Khursid.
Nepal also held discussion with Indian Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai at Hotel Oberoi.
Yesterday, Nepal had met United Progressive Alliance Chairman Sonia Gandhi.
