CoAS Rana in Beijing
KATHMANDU, JUL 21 - Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Gaurav SJB Rana, who is on an official visit to China, has reached Beijing on Saturday. Rana is on nine-day official visit at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Gen Fang Fenghui.
According to the Nepal Army Directorate of Public Relations, Deputy Commander Major General Yang Guangygue of Yunnan Provincial Military Command of China, and Rear Admiral Li Ji, Deputy Chief Foreign Affairs Office and representatives of the Ministry of National Defense welcomed Rana at Kunming, and Nanyuan Airport in Beijing, respectively.
Chief of Army Staff General Rana had reached Beijing from Kunming of Yunnan through a special aircraft of the Chinese PLA.
Rana is scheduled to meet Deputy Chairman of Central Military Commission Air Chief Marshal Xu Qiliang, Chief of the PLA General Staff Fang and other high-ranking military officials. Rana will visit various provinces of the northern neighbour.
According to the NA Directorate of Public Relations, a deal on setting up two mobile hospitals will be signed during Gen Rana's visit.
China has pledged to provide assistance for the establishment of mobile hospitals which will be helpful in the aftermath of a natural disaster.
China will provide military logistics of 59 million RMB. This is Rana's first visit to China as the Army Chief. He will return to Kathmandu on July 28.
Then Chinese Army Chief Gen Chen Bingde had earlier visited Nepal in March 2011.
