UCPN (Maoist) extended plenum kicks off
KATHMANDU, JUL 19 - The extended plenum of the UCPN (Maoist) convened to settle the organisational structure row has kicked off in the Capital on Friday.
The plenum comes in the wake of resignation by party Vice Chairman Baburam Bhattarai citing the need to build a culture of sacrifice inside the party. Leader Bhattarai had announced his resignation from the party post on June 30 following disputes over organisational structure.
UCPN (Maoist) central office bearers, Central Committee members, advisors and chiefs of various people's organisations have marked their presence at the meeting being held at Khanna Garment in Balkumari of Lalitpur district.
The party has not been able to finalise the appointments of central office bearers and organisational structure due to internal dispute. The Hetauda General Convention of the party had only appointed Chairman, Vice Chairman and General Secretary.
