Tanahun bus plunge: Police searching for missing ones
Tanahun district administration has deployed police personnel and transport entrepreneurs at various points of the Madi and Trishuli rivers to search for those missing in the river following yesterday’s road accident in Damauli .
Tanahun Chief District Officer Shankar Prasad Kharel confirmed that police personnel and entrepreneurs have been mobilised near Seti-Madi confluence, Saranghat, Devghat and other possible places in search of the missing ones.
Kharel said that the search bid was expedited suspecting that the swollen river could have swept away some passengers.
11 people had died yesterday after a passenger bus heading to Mungling from Pokhara skidded off the bridge and plunged into Madi River. 10 had sustained injuries and eight were rescued in yesterday’s accident.
"The death toll could rise as the bus was overcrowded," Kharel quoted the injured as saying.
Though it has been speculated that around 35-40 people were on board when the accident took place, the exact number of passengers is not been known yet.
