150 kgs marijuana recovered from ambulance


HETAUDA, JUL 16 - Police seized around 150 kilograms of marijuana from a Birgunj-bound ambulance from Manahari of Makawanpur district on Monday night.

Acting on a tip-off, the security personnel held the ambulance with the contraband drugs at the border of Bara and Makawanpur districts last night. The ambulance was supplying marijuana from Manahari to Birgunj.

The ambulance was registered in the name of Grace Hospital, Chuchhepati, Kathmandu, the District Police Office, Makawanpur, said.

Ambulance driver, Ram Chandra Bhandari of Sindhupalchowk district, a temporary resident of Kapan, Kathmandu, has been kept in police custody for investigation, said Deputy Superintendent of Police, Shyam Kumar Mahato.

The vehicle is learnt to have arrived in Manahari through Narayangadh of Chitwan district

Police acquired information about the marijuana trader from driver Bhandari, police stated. RSS
