Gajurel rules out possibility of talks with govt

CP Gajurel
NEPALGUNJ, JUL 23 - CPN-Maoist Vice Chairman CP Gajurel has brushed aside the chances of sitting for talks with the government saying the invitation for talks was not unconditional.

Speaking at a press meet in Nepalgunj on Tuesday, Gajurel accused the High Level Political Committee and the government of not being serious about the talks with his party. He also blamed the UCPN (Maoist) for moving ahead towards confrontation with an aim of foiling the Constituent Assembly elections.

He remarked that the UPCN (Maoist) move to arrange squad for CA polls at a time when his party has deployed party cadres to thwart November election signals the prospect of a confrontation.

Earlier on Friday, the government had sent a letter to the alliance of poll-opposing parties led by CPN-Maoist inviting them to come to the talks table. The CPN-Maoist had agreed to sit for unconditional talks with the government.
