Himani Trust to go ahead with relief distribution

Himani Shah.
Himani Trust said on Tuesday that the programme to distribute relief to flood victims will go ahead as planned saying that the programme was planned prior to the enactment of the election code of conduct .

Speaking at a press conference organised at the Ruwas Hotel in Dhangadi today, Trust's Secretary Biddhya laxmi Rana claimed that the Election Commission (EC) could not interfere with the relief distribution programme as the programme was planned before the EC's code of conduct came into effect.

The EC has maintained that after enactment of the election code of conduct , any organisation which is willing to distribute relief package to the flood victims should come through government agency.

The former Royal family is in Dhangadi to distribute relief to the flood victims of the far-western region. They, however, were not present at the press conference today.

Rana said that the issue of code of conduct should not be raised when a Nepali is willing to help another Nepali during the time of crisis. She informed that former King Gyanendra Shah had provided Rs. 25, 00,000 as relief to the flood victims of far-west via the Trust.

Former Crown Princess Himani Shah is the Chairman of the Himani Trust, a non-profit charitable organisation.
