CPN founder Karmaracharya passes away
KATHMANDU, JUL 24 -
Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) founder member Nar Bahadur Karmacharya passed away at the Model Hospital in the Capital on Wednesday morning. He was 90.
Karmacharya who was serving as a member of the advisory committee in the UCPN (Maoist) was admitted to the hospital on July 8 after suffering from jaundice and pneumonia.
Four leaders—Pushpa Lal Shrestha, Narayan Bilas Joshi and Niranjan Govinda Baidya including Karmacharya had established communist party in Nepal on April 22, 1949.
Karmachari was the only living founding member of the CPN.
Karmacharya's dead body in Perish Danda, last rites later today
Karmacharya's dead body has been kept at party headquarters in Parish Danda for the condolence and will be kept at Khulla Munch to pay last tribute from 9 this morning.
According to sources, last rites will be performed at around 1 this afternoon at Pashupati.
Meanwhile, political leaders, general public, have reached Parish Danda to pay last tribute to Karmacharya.
UCPN (M) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, leaders Baburam Bhattarai, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Posta Bahadur Bogati, among other leaders, had reached the hospital this morning.
Condolence statement
Meanwhile, communist parties including UCPN (M) have released condolence statement over Karmacharya's demise.
UCPN (M) spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota issued statement early this morning and expressed grief over veteran leader Karmacharya's demise.
