KATHMANDU, JUL 10 - UCPN (Maoist) leader and former minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi said that the former prime ministers did not trespass any protocol when they met with the Indian Minister for Foreign Affairs Salman Khurshid .

Addressing an interaction at the Reporters Club in the Capital on Wednesday, former minister Rayamajhi said that the protocol s do not apply once the prime ministers have left the post. “The Indian Minister legitimately met with the President, Chairman of Council of Ministers and the Foreign Minister. There is no protocol to be followed.

There is no point shouting about nationality without knowing the issue,” said Rayamajhi. He claimed that the former prime ministers of other countries also meet the political guests during dinners or similar gatherings.

However, CPN-UML leader and former Home Minister Bhim Rawal said that the former ministers dishonoured the nation as they breached the protocol by meeting the Indian foreign minister.

Moreover, Chairman of Rastriya Janamorcha Chitra Bahadur KC said that the former prime ministers violated the diplomatic code of conduct and claimed that it has shamed all the citizens. “The former prime ministers went to meet the Indian foreign ministers because they think that it would ensure their future in Nepali politics. If everything is to be done by India why do we lie to the people that we are going to fork for them? No one went to visit the victims of Darchula flood, but everyone queued for a meet when the Indian minister showed up,” said KC.
