CA polls, alliance with UCPN (M) Baidya’s agenda
KATHMANDU , JUL 10 -
The visit of CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya to China on the invitation of the Communist Party of China (CPC) will be primarily centered on agenda of the Constituent Assembly (CA) election, strengthening ties with CPC and a possible electoral alliance with the UCPN (Maoist) in the upcoming polls.
Baidya, accompanied by his deputy CP Gajurel, left for Beijing on Monday night shortly after the announcement of the five-member talks team to settle the disputes surrounding the CA election scheduled for November 19. “They are scheduled to meet leadership of both the CPC and the Chinese government. The meeting will focus on current deadlock on the backdrop of the CA election and enhancing the bilateral relations between the two parties and the government,” said party’s Politburo member Khadga Bishwakarma.
CPN-M leaders say the issue of unification between the UCPN (M) and the CPN-M or a possible electoral alliance between the former colleagues is also on the agenda. According to them, the Chinese establishment is against the spilt and thinks it is crucial for the two parties to unite for resolving the current political deadlock.
