CIAA reinstates suspended NTNC officials
KATHMANDU, JUL 18 - Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has scraped the suspension of National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) Member Secretary Juddha Bahadur Gurung and Administration Director Deepak Kumar Singh and directed the authorities to reinstate them in their positions.
Singh and Gurung were accused of embezzling funds of NTNC by abusing their authority. Both Singh and Gurung returned to their regular responsibilities from Thursday after being cleared of any irregularities , said Information Officer Num Raj Khanal.
Earlier, last month, CIAA had forwarded a letter to the Forest Ministry asking the latter to immediately suspend Gurung and Singh fearing that the two might conceal the evidences as the investigations were still underway. However, the suspension was scraped as it was found that they were not involved in any irregularities or fraud.
The duo was welcomed by the staffers at the NTNC office in Khumaltar. "This is the first time in 30 years that there has been any accusation of financial irregularity within NTNC. Nevertheless, it has been proven that there is no such deceit," said Gurung.
