6 killed, 26 injured in road accidents



DHADING, JUL 16 -
At least six persons died and 26 others were injured in separate road accidents in Dhading and Siraha districts on Monday. Five of the injured are reportedly in critical condition.

A passenger bus swerved off the road and fell some 20 metres down at Thankre along Prithvi Highway in Dhading district at around 5:50 am, killing three persons and injuring 15 others. The bus was en route to Kathmandu from Arghakhanchi.

Puran Budhathoki of Narpani, Dev Bahadur Pun of Simpani and Radha Poudel of Khinji in Arghakhanchi died in the incident, said police. The injured were rushed to the Capital for treatment.

Police suspect that the accident occurred as the driver dozed off while driving. There were 40 people in the bus when the incident took place.

Similarly in Siraha, three persons were killed and 11 others sustained injuries in a tractor accident at Karjanha along East-West Highway on Monday. The deceased have been identified as Mukesh Yadav, Ramsati Devi Yadav and Gulab Devi Yadav. The injured are undergoing treatment at local Phul Kumari Mahato Memorial Hospital.

The local people of Kachanari, Jijhaul and Itatar reserved the vehicle for their pilgrimage to Paraul in Dhanusha district.
