Koirala, Nepal talk govt, CA meet
KATHMANDU, JAN 05 -
CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal met Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala at the latter's residence in Maharajgunj on Sunday.
The duo discussed issues of government formation and summoning the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly.
Major parties are sharply divided over the issue of who should call the first meeting of the CA. NC, the largest party in the CA is in favour of allowing the incumbent president Ram Baran Yadav to call the first CA meeting. UML, however, says the constitutional provision clearly states that the head of the government shall call the first CA meeting.
UCPN (Maoist) leaders, however, are divided over the issue. While party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal echos the NC’s argument, Vice-president Baburam Bhattarai is against it.
Meanwhile, US envoy to Nepal Peter W. Bodde also called on Koirala earlier today.
