Four Nepalis held with gold at Bengal airport
SILIGURI, INDIA, JAN 09 -
Four Nepali nationals were arrested Wednesday and gold worth over Rs.15 lakh seized from them at Bagdogra airport in West Bengal's Darjeeling district, police said.
The accused had boarded a Druk Air flight from Bangkok and were nabbed by customs officials after the gold was found in their possession during a search at the airport.
"We have arrested four Nepali nationals and seized 420 gm of gold from them. They will be presented before a court Thursday," anti-hijacking inspector (Bagdogra) C.B. Subba said.
Earlier, the flight could not land in the afternoon due to low visibility and headed to Paro in Bhutan. Later in the evening, 30 passengers, including the four arrested, were sent in a separate flight back to Bagdogra.
